Green homes grant: UK standards body calls on government to pay up

There was a very worrying article in The Guardian yesterday about the government and its American consulting firm ICF not paying builders and renewable energy installers the Green Home Grant owed to them. Many renewable energy firms have spent time and money training staff in new technology just to get on the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). If the government is serious about cutting 600,000 homes carbon output by 2050 they need to hold their end of the agreement.

This new industry is a very exciting place to be but we will need government support to help the public see this is a good thing not only for the environment but for their also own pockets. Grants lead to a rush for solar in the 2000’s now we need the same with renewable heating and energy in 2020’s!
